Coming to Execute Justice - Daniel 3:1, [2-7] 8-30
We light this candle in expectation of the coming Lord
The Lord is coming
We remember Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who remained steadfast in the laws of the Lord
They were shown justice by trusting in the Lord
God provided for their lives in the furnace and justice for our God reigned
The Lord is coming and we prepare the way
The Christ child reigns in justice and offers us the ways of God
Let us continue to follow in the ways of Jesus, our Judge and Savior
Coming to Forgive Sins - Ezekiel 37:1-14
We light this candle in expectation of the forgiving of sins
For God's love offers us new life
We remember the new life that Ezekiel brought to the dry bones and we rejoice in God's saving grace offering us new life in the forgiveness of sins
The bones came back to the fullness of life, through Ezekiel's command
Christ's humble beginning brings us a new Word that offers new lift
The infant Christ is coming and we prepare the way
Through an infant, God's love to the world shines and offers us a new way
Let us continue to follow in the ways of Jesus, our Gracious Savior
Coming to Feed the Hungry - Isaiah 55:1-13
We light this candle in the expectation of the great nourishment in the Lord
For the Lord feeds our souls.
We trust in the prophets who spoke of a time when God would provide to those who longed, listened, waited and committed.
We believe in the generations who came before and delighted in the riches of the Lord instead of the indulgences of society
Jesus birth is the beginning, the birth of the Bread of Life and the Cup of the Covenant
Those who believe shall prepare the way
For the Birth of Christ is proclaimed by the shepherds, witnessed by the lowly and offers a new way to those who hunger for more
Let us continue to follow in the ways of Jesus, our Giving Sustainer
Coming to Renew Love - John 1:1-18
We light this candle in the expectation of the coming of the Lord of Love
For God's love is good and endures forever
God so loved the world, that God's own son came to save us, as a humbly child born into the sinful world.
We trust in the Word of God, knowing that the mysteries of Christmas exceed our understanding but not our faith
God's love for us culminated in the birth of Jesus, born to the virgin Mary and the righteous Joseph who trusted the voice of God
We who know the love of God prepare the way
As we proclaim the birth of Christ we exclaim God's love through the abundance of mercy and grace working through the Spirit
Let us continue to follow in the ways of Jesus, our Loving Word
The Light Has Come - Luke 2:1-14
We light the Christ candle in the expectation of the birth of the Lord
For Christ Jesus is on his way
Jesus humble came into the world, born to Mary and Joseph and welcomed by Shepherds
We have prepared the way for the birth
The light of the Christ candle reminds us of Star that shined the way for the magi which appeared at Christ birth. Bringing light into the world.
We bring the light of Jesus out into the world. Let us light up the world with the truth that comes through the amazing mystery of our faith.
